Kolkata: The state has urged the industry sector to form a core group to carry out project-based research on solar power, waste-to-energy conversion and rainwater harvesting to address environmental concerns. State environment minister Sudarshan Ghosh Dastidar assured that the government will help in conducting these researches.
Dastidar addressed industry representatives, green activists and other stakeholders at the ninth Environment Partnership Summit organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce on Friday .
“We should ensure that development takes place in a planned and environmentally sustainable way . In cases where development choices may conflict with environ mental concerns, a decision needs to be taken rationally.Because safe water, clean air and sustainable use of natural resources are key elements to a sustainable development,” said industrialist Sanjay Budhia.
